Breast Reduction in Scottsdale, AZ

Also Serving Phoenix, AZ

Breast reduction surgery in Scottsdale, AZIf you feel that your breasts are too large or heavy, then you might consider breast reduction surgery. Breasts that are disproportionately large can cause pain in your back, shoulders, or neck, breathing difficulties, poor posture, and chafing under your breast. Many women with very large breasts feel self-conscious and unattractive, and large breast may interfere with normal daily activities or exercise.

If the breasts are large, but well-shaped, liposuction alone can reduce the size with only a couple of tiny incisions. Most large breasts however have drooping due to their weight and require a lift as well. The lift is PART OF THE REDUCTION. Dr. White will listen to your concerns and help you to decide on the best approach to your problem. After breast reduction surgery, you can expect to have improved body proportions, more attractive breasts, and an improvement from health problems associated with excessively large breasts. Dr. White does not participate in any insurance plans, but if your reduction is large enough to be covered by insurance, her office will help you with the forms required to submit to your insurance company to see if you can receive some reimbursement if allowed.

Breast Reduction Procedure Information:

Breast Reduction is done under general anesthesia at the Virginia Piper Outpatient Surgical Facility in Scottsdale. Incisions are made around the pigmented area (the nipple areolar complex or NAC) and extend vertically below the nipple and sometimes also in the fold under the breast. The NAC is moved upwards to the desired location, while excess breast tissue, skin, and fat are removed. Breast tissue that has been removed is always sent to pathology according to the requirements of hospital policy. Any liposuction of the surrounding regions like the lateral chest or axillary area is included with this procedure.

The incisions are covered with a plastic-feeling tape called Prineo. This is a type of skin glue/tape that helps take tension off of the incision line and protects it. This tape stays in place for 3 weeks. Gauze pads are placed over the incisions and a light bra over this. Dr. White does NOT use drains for breast reductions. Depending on the patient’s preferences and health status, this surgery can be done on an outpatient basis or with an overnight stay. Regardless, the patient is seen the following day, either in the outpatient center or at Dr. White’s office for a checkup. Initial discomfort subsides daily and be controlled with oral medication. Scars will fade over the next 6 to 18 months. Normal activity can be resumed in 4 to 6 weeks. It is important to note that breast reduction surgery carries the risk of loss of nipple sensation and ability to breast feed.

Breast Reduction Surgery

The specific risks and the suitability of breast reduction can be determined only during your consultation with Scottsdale plastic surgeon Dr. White. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk, but major complications are unusual.

My interactions and services with Dr. White were excellent. I have been completely satisfied with the results of my surgery, pre-surgery services, and post-op. All staff were super friendly, professional, and supportive of my procedure. I highly recommend Dr. White.

To Our Valued Patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones in good health. Per directives by the Governor and HonorHealth we will be restarting surgery and several in-office procedures, while following new protocols to decrease the risk of transmission of any illness.

FOR SURGERIES AT THE OUTPATIENT CENTER: All patients MUST be covid negative. The hospital will coordinate the testing which must be done 2 days before your surgery and will be at NO COST to you.

We have decided to begin with our younger, lower risk patients having shorter surgeries for the first couple of weeks. Preops will of course be in person.

FOR CONSULTS AND BOTOX AND IN-OFFICE PROCEDURES: All patients must be screened for exposure to coronavirus (questionnaire) and have no symptoms or fever. We will not be doing any procedures around the mouth for the first few weeks. Patients MUST wear MASKS.

You will see some changes to our office procedures:

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we are taking to keep you and our staff safe in our practice! To make an appointment please call 480-614-3535 or visit our website at www.drwhiteplasticsurgery.com.
