KYBELLA™ is the first and only product on the market today designed to safely contour and improve fullness under the chin without surgical intervention. Deoxycholic Acid, a substance natural to the body, is the active ingredient in KYBELLA™ that helps break down dietary fat. Once the fat is broken down, the cells lose the ability to multiply and store fat.
Using a grid like pattern, several small injections will be administered under your chin. The injection process is relatively quick and unlike a surgical procedure, KYBELLA™ requires no anesthetic. However, a topical numbing agent can be applied for added comfort.
Treatment with KYBELLA™ requires no downtime, but patients may have some swelling for few days to a week and temporary numbness. Cool compresses will help with the swelling and any discomfort. No pain medications are required. If needed, over the counter Tylenol is perfectly suitable.
Prior to treatment, Dr. White will help determine how many treatments are needed. Fat distribution under the chin varies patient to patient, along with desired outcome. Up to 6 treatments may be administered. However, even with one treatment some improvement is seen.
